Globular Clusters (Sagittarius Part 1)

12 Sep

This is my favorite constellation!  Go outside.  Go look.  Do it.  Now.

Here is a star map for you.

I have merely mindlessly scrolled through your blog, and it is obvious, you are awesome. Followed! 🙂

Great video Loren! I feel like a lot of it went in one ear and out the other (entirely my silly brain’s fault), but I love your enthusiasm as always. And astronomy’s the shit. It excites and scares me all at once 0_0

Thank you. 🙂 It’s not your brain’s fault, I’m trying to make these videos better and I think maybe if I focus up a little more and don’t try to cover so much in one go, it’ll be a little better. I feel like I’m just way too tangential. I get off on stuff and then once that train leaves the station, it NEVER comes back. I think I need to pare down and focus up.

I totally agree with you about astronomy. 😀

    Loren,

You ARE funny. I’m not a science ‘nerd,’ but I was a dancer. In the LARGE stretch of the universe, these two probably intersect. Loved this!

Thank you Linda! I love dance. I’m not any good at it, but I can appreciate it. Thank you for your kind words.

I also welcome you back. Interesting topic. Since I am injured and laid up (maybe more laid out, but assuredly not laid back) I am allowed to be picky and testy. So here is my question, shouldn’t “Globular” be pronounced with a long O?

    • Loren Riley September 13, 2013 at 9:47 am #

Laid out is pretty sad. 😦
But no actually, it’s ‘glob’ as in ‘blob’ not ‘glob’ as in ‘globe’. I blame it on the Italians.

Yay! Glad to see you’re back on “the bandwagon”… I don’t really understand much of the science talk, but I do understand shiny, pretty stars! [Cheesy line about how pretty your eyes are redacted, for fear of being banned]

    • Loren Riley September 12, 2013 at 12:19 pm #

Thanks! I’ve been so unproductive lately. And I would never ban you. (My eyes are probably easier to see in this one because I lost my glasses about a week ago…) 😀

      • deecrowseer September 13, 2013 at 1:07 am #

Oh no! Sorry to hear about your glasses… I’d be (literally) lost without mine. 😦

        • Loren Riley September 13, 2013 at 9:50 am #

Well, I have been using the power of contacts lately… but I hate them. Glasses are just so much easier on the eyeballs.

          • deecrowseer September 13, 2013 at 12:10 pm #

Yeah, I tried the disposable kind many years ago, and couldn’t get along with them. Besides, if God had meant us to wear contacts, She wouldn’t have given us sticky out ears to keep our glasses on!
